on the one hand they're
closer to the ideal
than ever before,
but on the other
everyone is acting
batshit insane,
and so what's really
to be said about it?
I confess to not have
one clue
about this,
and so that's why
I'm calling it metaphysics,
as in stuff I just don't understand.

I call this a moral poem,
and think you'll agree,
for in all the ways you find them
you can't help but see
that morals and pablum
can hardly be
what you expect in the hem
of a sycamore tree,
a rhyme swum
there and for thee.
